Tulip ‘White Triumphator’ is a fine lily-flowering tulip which trumps most other pure white varieties. Tall stems allow the willowy blooms to tower above most other spring bulbs and sway gently on the spring breeze. This lily-flowered tulip has the ability to fit into most planting schemes with ease, adding structure and elegance to chic modern designs and traditional cottage gardens.
Tulip ‘White Triumphator’s’ excellent performance in the garden and long-lasting blooms have helped this tulip to gain a respected Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.
October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.
Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.
After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
