Description

An intriguing and uplifting tulip, ‘Sunlover’ begins its flowering period in April with large buds of tightly-packed, ruffled satsuma petals. As the blooms open fully, they colour-change to bright yellow with delicate red markings.

A bright and bold tulip, paeony-flowering tulip 'Sun Lover' perfect for planting in dramatic blocks and for filling large terracotta and galvanized containers with colour.

Great for cutting, the blooms are long-lasting in the vase and in the garden. Remember to refresh the water and trim stems every other day to extend the life of your arrangements.

Care Guide

October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.

Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade.  Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.

After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
