Allium Giganteum

Description
Show-stopping Allium ‘Giganteum’ forms impressively large heads of violet flowers which bloom during June. This wonderful variety adds instant wow-factor when the allium Giganteum blooms burst forth on ramrod straight stems, over a metre tall in the border.
The bulbs are excellent for naturalising in a sweeping mixed border, particularly effective when punctuating the zesty green foliage of Hostas, Euphorbia, Ferns and grasses with their vivid purple full stops.
Alliums are a gardeners favourite for unrivalled drama, structure and colour in the garden which announces the beginning of summer. Adored by pollinators, the nectar-rich blooms can be left on stems to fade, adding winter texture and interest.
Care Guide
Plant in rich, well-drained soil. Larger bulbs should be planted 10 cm deep and the smaller ones 5 cm deep; they may be left undisturbed for many years.

Sometimes known as Allium Neapolitanum, this charming cultivar is easy to grow and looks best in snowy drifts, weaving through the front of a border where it will take your garden seamlessly from spring, into summer.
The bulbs of Allium ’Cowanii’ may also be grown in pots of fertile, very well-drained soil.
A space in full sun is best reserved for this pollinator-friendly spring gem.

Stems up to a metre tall, allium Mont Blanc produce creamy-white spherical heads which burst into life during May and June and are a magnet for pollinators.
Plant the bulbs in full sun and in well-drained soil towards the front or centre of a large, sweeping border. Low-growing foliage plants such as Alchemilla mollis, Stachys byzantina and Hostas are useful for growing next to Alliums to hide any unsightly, fading foliage. Flowerheads can be left on the plants to fade gracefully and provide textural autumn and winter interest.
