Allium Purple Sensation
M5016
Description
A classy and classic cultivar - Allium ‘Purple Sensation’ produces densely clustered globes of glowing, deep-violet blooms, held aloft on straight and elegant stems. It is the variety which we perhaps envision most when we think of this early summer beauty.
Winner of an esteemed Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society, Allium ‘Purple Sensation’ is an ever-popular variety for good reason. Reliable, charming and extremely attractive to pollinators.
Plant the bulbs in borders or large containers where they can settle in and naturalise, providing an enhanced display year after year during May and June. Looks brilliant with lush foliage plants such as Hostas and Ferns which act as an interesting, complementary understorey and help to hide any fading Allium foliage.
Care Guide
Plant in rich, well-drained soil.
The larger bulbs should be planted 10cm (4”) deep and the smaller ones 5cm (2”) deep; they may be left undisturbed for many years.
