Description

The fluffy blooms of Narcissus ‘Rip Van Winkle’ have been delighting gardeners and garden visitors with their tiny explosions of spring colour in rockeries, containers, and beds for well over 100 years.

The multi-petalled flowers appear early on, adding a welcome wave of sunshine to the garden once winter has passed. Bright yellow flowers are tinged fresh green as they open, and the short stem-length make this dainty Daffodil an excellent choice for the front of the border.

Care Guide

Plant Daffodil and Narcissi bulbs in autumn, ideally in mid September to early October to enable roots to establish before a period of cold in winter. A position in full sun or light shade is best and good drainage is essential. Daffodils and Narcissi are long lasting and naturalise well, providing a welcoming display every spring. Ideal for borders, containers, rock gardens and open grass. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep and apart, depending on variety. A good rule of thumb is to plant bulbs 2-3 times their depth. Flowers appear in March and April and should be deadheaded once faded. The foliage should be left to turn yellow and fade naturally on the plant as this helps to feed the bulbs for next year’s blooms.
