Lily Flowering Tulip Ballerina
T1744
Description
You may well catch the scent of Lily Flowering Tulip ‘Ballerina’ way before you see her dancing in the garden, as she emits a beautiful, spicy-citrus perfume on warm spring days. This stunningly elegant tulip blooms in a graceful lily-flowered shape. Long, slender petals curve up and point outwards in zesty, marmalade-orange tones.
A super long-lasting cut flower which adds a stylish look to spring arrangements and bouquets. Tulip ‘Ballerina’ has been granted a prestigious Award of Garden Merit from the RHS for its all-round excellent performance.
Combine with pastel Aquilegias, Jonquilla ‘Cosmopolitan’ and tulip ‘Black Parrot’ for a tasteful, architectural late spring show. Plant the bulbs densely for an eye-catching effect.
Care Guide
October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.
Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.
After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.

Artist
T1499
Blooming in shades of salmon and rose, flushed with dark green and muted purple, the pointed petals of Viridiflora Tulip ‘Artist’ look as though they have been painted with the sweeping strokes of an artist’s brush.
These unique Heirloom tulips are long-lasting and return every spring for years to come, unlike many modern tulip varieties. The stems are not especially long, so plant near the front of the border and fill your pots to ensure tulip Artist’s exceptional beauty is not overshadowed by taller plants.

Belicia
T1922
Early Double Tulip ‘Belicia’ produces stems of multiple fancy blooms which will billow in the spring breeze like the plumes of a cavalier hat. The stunning feather-like petals of tulip 'Belicia' emerge in a soft shade of primrose yellow, edged in carmine, and fade to raspberry-rippled ivory.
The show-stopping bouquet-flowering Tulips are an arresting sight when planted to bloom in wide swathes in the border. Plant taller tulips such as the rich and plummy ‘Black Hero’ and elegant ‘Queen of Night’ behind for complimentary colour and texture.

Olympic Flame
T1560
Blazing with glorious colour, the deep yellow petals of Darwin Tulip ‘Olympic Flame’ flicker with crimson streaks. The real Olympic flame is a symbol of strength, resilience, and the advancement of human civilisation, kept alight for the entirety of the games. Likewise, this eponymous tulip is robust and long-lasting, and can be used to great dramatic effect.
The colossal, bi-coloured blooms are carried on sturdy stems, held aloft like the Olympic torch itself. Tulip ‘Olympic Flame’ has been bestowed with the horticultural equivalent of a gold medal – the RHS Award of Garden Merit – and will stand on the podium of your garden with pride.
