Allium Schoenoprasum Forescate
M4999
Description
A highly attractive form of large chive, with pinky-purple flowerheads in midsummer. Allium ‘Schoenoprasum Forescate’ rapidly forms large clusters of slim foliage and pretty flowerheads to punctuate a summer planting scheme.
Plant near to the front of a border or in ornamental pots where the charming blooms can be seen and will add neat shape, structure and colour.
The tufted umbels are adored by bees and pollinators and can be picked and used as a cut flower or edible bloom. Sprinkle the florets onto salads or use in cooked dishes to add a mild, oniony flavour.
Care Guide
Plant in rich, well-drained soil. Larger bulbs should be planted 10 cm deep and the smaller ones 5 cm deep; they may be left undisturbed for many years.
