Parrot Tulip Estella Rijnveld
T1620
Description
Tulip ‘Estella Rijnveld’ is a fun and flamboyant tulip, bringing colour, movement and plenty of panache to the garden in May.
Feathered petals are dramatically splashed in flamingo-red and white with occasional streaks of green. Planted en masse to fill a garden bed or large pot, these tulips are true show-stoppers.
The huge flowers are also great for cutting and adding a striking feature to floral arrangements. Display a single stem in a bud vase to admire this extravagant beauty up close.
Care Guide
November is the optimum month for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring. Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep, spaced 10-20cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area. After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
