Description

Like the precious stone shining at the centre of the British Imperial State Crown,  Early Single ‘Ruby Prince’ will make a radiant focal point in your garden. Lustrous, scarlet blooms are held above sword-shaped foliage, glimmering amongst borders and containers.

This Single Early variety comes into flower at the beginning of the season, offering a welcome, warm flush of red after a long, washed-out winter. Sturdy stems hold the flower heads firm, even in unpredictable spring weather and exposed conditions.

Fully deserving of its royal title, tulip ‘Ruby Prince’ will be the jewel in the crown of your spring display.

Care Guide

October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.

Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade.  Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.

After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
