Description

Fringed Tulip ‘Vincent van Gogh’ produces dramatic deeply fringed blooms that open in softer tones before gradually deepening to rich velvety maroon with an almost black intensity. The heavily textured petals of tulip ‘Vincent van Gogh’ create a luxurious and highly theatrical spring display, bringing depth, contrast, and movement to borders, containers, and feature planting schemes.

Flowering in mid to late spring, this striking variety adds a bold artistic touch to the garden, pairing beautifully with creams, apricots, and softer pastel tulips for sophisticated seasonal combinations.

Care Guide

October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.

Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade.  Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.

After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
